Porsche has unveiled the unique Flachbau RS — a modern interpretation of the legendary “flatnose” 935s.
Unlike the track-only 935 Clubsport from 2018, this car is a one-off and has received official road homologation for public roads in Europe.
It is based on a 2018 Porsche 911 GT2 RS (991.2) with the Weissach package. The project took nearly three years to complete and involved the Sonderwunsch division, Style Porsche, Porsche Motorsport, and Manthey.
The design was created by Grant Larson, the man behind the 935 Clubsport. The car features an entirely new front end with slim LED headlights mounted in the fenders, enlarged air intakes, hood ventilation ducts, and aerodynamic elements.
At the rear, it is fitted with a larger adjustable spoiler and a Manthey diffuser. At 211 mph, the car generates 1,222 pounds of downforce — even more than a GT2 RS equipped with the Manthey Kit.
Porsche also significantly lightened the car: the infotainment system, audio system, sound insulation, and portions of the interior trim have been removed. The cabin retains carbon-fiber bucket seats trimmed in leather and Alcantara, the wooden PDK selector, and signature Flachbau RS details.
Porsche built three prototypes for testing.
Mechanically, the Flachbau RS retains the standard 3.8-liter twin-turbo flat-six from the GT2 RS, producing 700 hp and 553 lb-ft of torque. It is mated to a 7-speed PDK transmission and rear-wheel drive.
The price has not been disclosed, but given the GT2 RS base and the level of bespoke development involved, it is almost certainly in the millions of dollars.
