A modified 1980s VAZ-2105 built to Group B rally specification is currently listed for sale on eBay in Germany.
An important chapter in this car’s history began in 1985 when it was converted into a fully-fledged rally machine. The Lada 2105 VFTS (Vilnius Fabrika Transportnych Sredstv) was certified and registered by the Austrian importer ÖAF for both rallying and road use.
Following certification, the car competed continuously in the Austrian Rally Championship until 1989.
After its racing career ended, the Lada spent time in a garage in Austria. The current owner acquired the car in 2018 and had it meticulously restored with the help of rally specialists. By 2020, it received an FIA Historic Technical Passport and complies with homologation B222.
Visually, the VFTS stands out with its distinctive wide-body kit featuring flared fenders, a prominent front lip spoiler, and a ducktail rear spoiler. It also features trademark auxiliary spotlights and lightweight plastic windows. The look is completed by five-spoke alloy wheels painted to match the white bodywork.
The interior has been stripped down to two fixed racing bucket seats and a full roll cage, while the dashboard has been fitted with additional gauges and switches.
Under the hood sits a naturally aspirated 1.6-liter engine equipped with twin Weber carburetors and a high-flow intake manifold. Power has been increased from the factory’s 75 hp (56 kW) to 128 hp (96 kW) — an impressive figure for a car that weighs approximately 2,030 pounds (920 kg) per the regulations.
The engine is mated to a five-speed manual transmission that sends power to a Torsen limited-slip differential.
The seller is asking €63,000, which is approximately $69,000 at today’s exchange rate.
